Taib holds wedding reception

KUCHING: Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife Puan Sri Ragad Waleed al-Kurdi celebrated their recent marriage in a glittering reception at the new State Legislative Assembly’s banquet hall last night.
The couple arrived at 8.15pm and were greeted by Taib’s children Jamilah Hamidah, Datuk Seri Mahmud Abu Bekir and Datin Hanifah Hajar. Taib, 74, wore a black suit with a bow tie while Ragad, 29, was resplendent in a white wedding gown and a tiara.
Guests included Head of State Tun Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng and wife Toh Puan Norkiah, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, state Cabinet members, elected representatives, heads of departments and corporate figures.
In a speech, Mahmud Abu Bekir said it was Taib’s sister Datuk Raziah Mahmud, her husband Datuk Robert Geneid and Robert’s cousin Iqbal who introduced Ragad to him. He said Ragad is the youngest among four siblings. She was born in Damascus, but moved to Riyadh at an early age.
Taib married Ragad in a private ceremony at his residence in Petra Jaya here on Dec 18. This is Taib’s second marriage. His first wife Puan Sri Laila Taib, a Polish-born Australian, died of cancer in April 2009 after 50 years of marriage.
question: are you willing to marry someone who is older than you? very old than you? why?
