SNAKES A TOURISM ASSET TO PERLIS

SNAKES A TOURISM ASSET TO PERLIS

KANGAR, Feb 20 (Bernama) - Snakes, some of which can be venomous, will continue to be promoted as a tourism asset to Perlis.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Md Isa Sabu said the people need to change their mindset about snakes and make friends and not enemies out of them.
"The snake park opened in the early 1980s is the largest in the country," he said at Perlis Snake and Reptile Park in Sungai Batu Pahat, near here Sunday.
Md Isa was happy that the park's management had lined-up various programmes to attract more visitors to the park.
Meanwhile, Perlis Snake and Reptile Park manager Tengku Nooriah Tengku Mahmud said the park is home to 382 snakes from 29 species.
Some 200,000 people visited the snake park last year while 250,000 are expected this year.
